Saving Tape Film Transfers Featured in Indie Documentary “Legends of Ska”

Minneapolis filmmaker Brad Klein will debut his full-length documentary Legends of Ska in Minneapolis in November. Already praised at film festivals around the world, the film tells the story of Ska music and musicians. Saving Tape was tapped to digitally scan 8mm and 16mm film footage to be used in the movie.

Over the course of the last several years Brad has been scouring a variety of 8mm, 16mm and Super 8 film sources to find segments of footage to help illustrate the mood of the times portrayed in his film. Saving Tape cleaned the film and transferred it to HD digital files which were incorporated into the film narrative.

Minnesota Public Radio arts reporter Euan Kerr has posted a detailed article on the film – including photos, audio and video clips from the movie. Click here to view the article: Minnesotan’s film captures the magic of Jamaican ska
